How to read a TimeGuessr photo
This page is the method. It does not name today’s five answers. If you want a nudge without the place, use hints.

Date the technology first
A glass plate, a coarse black-and-white print, color film, and a sharp digital frame are different centuries of habit. I put that step before the landmark because a famous building can be photographed in 1910 or 2010.
Community guides, including EraGuessr’s what-is page and a Wherio write-up, list the same first move. Neither is the game maker. I label the list as player method.
Read every word, then the people and the cars
Shop signs, tram destinations, and newspaper mastheads often name the city faster than the skyline. Clothing and uniforms narrow the decade. Number plates, the shape of a car, and road paint narrow the country.
A Reddit post by a player of three years, “How to Date an Old Photograph,” is an infographic of the same idea. I link it. I do not copy the picture.
Watch for a famous face in the wrong city
The person in the frame can be from one country while the street is another. Daily 1246’s public description is an Argentine footballer being presented in Spain. The face is a clue to the event, not automatically to Argentina.
After the round, write down the miss that cost the most points. The archive is there so you can practice on a finished day. The window of visible days is limited; I describe that on the archive page.
Questions people ask
Are these official tips?
No published tips page exists on the paths I checked. These are community methods.
Will the clues name today’s photos?
No. Use the official daily result after you submit.
Should I search the image on the web?
That is outside the game. The videos that do it are entertainment, not a rule.
