Scoring
How TimeGuessr scoring works
A round is worth up to 10,000 points: 5,000 for the map pin and 5,000 for the year. Five rounds make 50,000. The game has not published the curve that turns metres and years into those points.

The short answer
I dropped the older “5,000 a round, 25,000 total” line. The share text the game builds is TimeGuessr #number score/50,000. NerdleBuddy and EarthGuessr independently describe 10,000 per round and 50,000 per game.
NerdleBuddy, EarthGuessr, and Seekdle agree with the official share-string maximum. EraGuessr does not. I publish the agreement and preserve the disagreement.
What the share-card colors mean
The game’s public client paints a three-block card. These thresholds have one source: the official client script linked below, retrieved 30 Oct 2026. They are closeness marks, not a points table or an independently verified deduction per kilometre.
| Place | Mark | Year | Mark |
|---|---|---|---|
| 50 m or closer | three green | exact year | three green |
| under 37.5 km | two green, one yellow | within 2 years | two green, one yellow |
| under 100 km | two green | within 4 years | two green |
| under 250 km | one green, one yellow | within 7 years | one green, one yellow |
| under 1,000 km | one green | within 15 years | one green |
| under 2,000 km | one yellow | within 20 years | one yellow |
| 2,000 km or more | three black | more than 20 years | three black |
What counts as a good score
The game does not publish an average. A number that feels good depends on that day’s photographs. I do not turn isolated player posts into a population percentile or a universal benchmark.
I will not average those into an official mean. A country-right, year-wrong round can still look weak because half the round is the year.
Questions people ask
What is a perfect TimeGuessr score?
50,000, if every round scores the 10,000 cap. Players have posted that total. The game does not publish how often it happens.
Why do some guides say 25,000?
That conflicts with the official share string and multiple independent guides. The precise cause of the error is not documented; I do not infer it.
Is the color card the formula?
No. It is a closeness mark. The points curve is not printed.
