Guides
TimeGuessr guides
The game site’s how-to-play, FAQ, and about paths returned 404 on 30 Oct 2026. These guides fill that gap with public facts, and they link onward instead of repeating one essay four times.

A round is a photograph, a pin, and a year. Five of those rounds make a game. The share text printed by the game is hard-capped at 50,000, which is five times 10,000. I use that share string as the score ceiling because the page emits it, not because a third-party blog repeated it.
Pick the question you actually have. Mixing scoring math into a creator biography makes both pages worse.
Four guides
Each link below is one search question. Open the one that matches, then come back only if you need a different question.
- How to play — the five-round loop, which modes need a login, and what the photos actually are.
- Scoring — 10,000 per round, share-card colors, and why 25,000 is the wrong ceiling.
- Photo clues — clothing, cars, lettering, buildings, and film stock. Methods, not today’s answer.
- Who made it — Gus Owen, TIMEGUESSR LIMITED, and the Angus Owen mix-up.
What the game site does not explain
On 30 Oct 2026 I requested /about, /how-to-play, /faq, /terms, and /privacy on timeguessr.com. All five answered 404. /subscriptions and /jobs answered 200. That is why a scoring page can exist here without copying a missing terms document.
Community write-ups disagree with each other. EraGuessr still says 5,000 points a round and 25,000 total. The share string and three other public readings say 50,000. I keep the share string.
