TimeGuessr vs GeoGuessr
They share a map pin and almost nothing else. TimeGuessr hands you a still photograph and asks which year it is. GeoGuessr drops you in Street View and asks where you are now. Pick the one that matches the question you actually have.

The difference that matters
TimeGuessr’s clue is a photograph that may be decades old, and half the score is the year. GeoGuessr’s clue is a modern street panorama. A good TimeGuessr round can be a terrible GeoGuessr round, because road signs from 1969 are not a live camera.
GeoGuessr’s own free page says the free daily needs an account. TimeGuessr’s daily opens without one. I am not quoting a GeoGuessr subscription price. The pricing page localizes it, and a number I freeze here would be wrong next month.
| TimeGuessr | GeoGuessr | |
|---|---|---|
| Clue | Still photograph | Street View |
| You answer | Pin and year | Pin |
| A full game | 5 rounds, 50,000 cap | Free daily is a short set; more is paid |
| Account for the daily | Not required | Required |
| Old days | Archive window of a limited window | Not the same kind of photo archive |
Who should play which
Play TimeGuessr if you like dating a picture. Play GeoGuessr if you like reading a live street. Playing both is normal. They do not train the same eye, and I will not rank one as “better” from a table.
Questions people ask
Is TimeGuessr a free GeoGuessr?
No. One is historical photos plus a year. The other is Street View. The free daily also has different account rules.
Which is free?
TimeGuessr’s daily is free to open, with ads. GeoGuessr’s free daily needs an account, and the rest of GeoGuessr is a subscription. I am not quoting that price.
Do they share an archive?
No. TimeGuessr’s archive is old photo dailies. GeoGuessr is not that calendar.
